Southwood is a small, pleasant cooperative and we pride ourselves on the diversity of our community. It is a great place to live and raise a family. We have two playgrounds for use by the children of our community. We have recently remodeled our office and clubhouse which includes a workout facility, children's play area, computer lab, and much more. Our housing charges are quite reasonable. Our property manager, Sarah, is always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have. We have a Board of Directors consisting of five members: Rosie, Melinda, Sue, Mary and Donald. We, the Board, work with the office staff and maintenance to keep our community running smoothly. Anyone living here is eligible to run for a position on the Board of Directors as they become available. Each member of Southwood Cooperative Property owns one share and has one vote in the cooperative. The cooperative corporation holds title to the property and is responsible for the mortgage. A Board of Directors is elected by the members. The directors set policies, establish rules and determine how money is spent.
• To qualify for membership you must meet the income and credit standards established by the Board of Directors.
• Because the corporation is a not-for-profit organization, we are able to offer far more housing for less money than it would be possible for you to buy or rent anywhere else.
• Maintenance service is provided to members during normal office hours. The Cooperative’s professional maintenance staff is available to treat emergency calls on a 24-hour basis.
